UPSC Result: Four years of hard work, success in second attempt, the story topper Shruti Sharma

Lucknow: History student Shruti Sharma has secured first rank in Civil Services Examination-2021. Not only this, only women have occupied the first four positions in the top 10. While Shruti Sharma, who got the number one rank, hails from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. He did his graduation from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and did his post-graduation from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

A total of 685 candidates including 508 male and 177 female have passed the UPSC CSE final result by the Union Public Service Commission. According to the commission, women have occupied the first four places among the successful candidates. Apart from this, 15 men and 10 women are included in the top 25. The top-ranked women said they would like to work in women’s empowerment and other important areas like education and health.

Shruti Sharma, who graduated with History (Hons) from Delhi University, had History as an optional subject in the examination. He has achieved this success in his second attempt. Shruti Sharma said that her ‘extremely supportive’ parents and friends helped her in this journey. I used to make my own notes. Apart from patience and consistency, self-study helped me a lot. Also said that not the quality, but the studies done for many hours matters a lot in success.

Apart from this, Shruti Sharma had chosen the Indian Administrative Service as her first option. He said, ‘Education and women’s empowerment will be my two important areas. She hails from Basta town of Chandpur in Bijnor. At the same time, there are parents and brother in the house. Mother is a housewife, father is running a private school in Delhi.

244 of general category, then 203 of backward class candidates pass
According to the commission, 244 candidates from the general category, 73 from economically weaker sections, 203 from other backward classes, 105 from scheduled castes and 60 from scheduled tribes have been successful, according to the commission. Civil services examinations are organized every year. This exam is conducted in three phases, under which Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers are selected. The written (main) examination of UPSC was conducted in January, 2022 and the interviews were conducted in April-May.
