New Delhi: Lal Chandra Meena (IDSE) has been appointed as the Director General (Personnel) of the Military Engineer Service under the Ministry of Defence. Lal Chand Meena took charge at MES Head Quarters Kashmir House today.
L.C. Meena is an officer of the Indian Defence Service of Engineers cadre in the Military Engineer Services. Military Engineering Services executes construction works under the Ministry of Defence. LC Meena has previously held other important posts like Additional Director General, Northeast Guwahati, Chief Engineer Jabalpur Circle, Commander Works Engineer Goa, Fort Engineer Chennai, Nalanda and Jamnagar. Apart from this, as Director General, North East, Guwahati, has executed strategic and diplomatically important construction works on the North Eastern border in the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh.
Originally a resident of Binda village of Aklera tehsil of Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, Lal Chandra Meena passed civil engineering examination from M B M Engineer College, Jodhpur. He has also obtained degree of M.Tech in Structures from IIT Bombay. L.C. Meena was selected in the Military Engineer Services through the prestigious Indian Engineering Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
On this occasion L.C. Meena said that “Military Engineer Services is one of the country’s leading organizations of construction works. It builds runways, hangars and other complex structures for the forces under the Ministry of Defence. In future, it will be dedicated to the service of the country, will continue to execute the construction works as per the standard arrangements of the Indian forces”.
After taking charge, describing the priorities of the work to be done in the department, L.C Meena said that “his aim will be to bring transparency in posting and transfer. Which officer is better for which work, he should be posted at that place”. He also said that “timely DPC and promotion of officers-employees should be done in a good environment”.
It is worth mentioning that when the then Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee ordered to build houses for the soldiers on a large scale in a quick manner, then the “Married Accommodation Project” was started under the Military Engineer Service and L.C. Meena was an integral part of the project as its designer and contributed immensely to its completion.
