Lakhimpur Kheri case: Hearing on bail of accused Ashish Mishra in High Court today

Lucknow: The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court will hear the bail plea of ​​Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra alias Monu in the Lakhimpur violence case on Monday. Justice Krishna Pahal will hear the bail plea of ​​accused Ashish Mishra in court number-28 today. Significantly, Ashish’s granted bail was rejected by the Supreme Court on April 18 and the matter was sent back to the High Court for fresh hearing.

The High Court had granted bail to Mishra on February 10. Mishra was in custody for four months at that time. After the bail was rejected, Ashish Mishra surrendered in the court. Ashish Mishra has been kept in the number 21 barrack of the jail.

While canceling the bail of Ashish Mishra, the Supreme Court had said that the High Court should again hear the bail application in a fair and balanced manner. The plaintiff should also be given an opportunity to be heard. The High Court should complete its hearing in 3 months. In the Lucknow Bench of the High Court, Ashish Mishra’s lawyer Prabhu Ranjan Tripathi says that the old bail application will be heard again.

On October 3 last year, eight people died during violence in Tikunia police station area of ​​Lakhimpur Kheri district. The incident took place when farmers agitating against the Centre’s agricultural laws were protesting against the visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to the area.

According to the FIR of the Uttar Pradesh Police, four farmers were crushed by an SUV in which Ashish Mishra was sitting. Following the incident, angry farmers allegedly thrashed the driver and two BJP workers to death. A journalist was also killed in this violence.
