Sitapur: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted interim bail to Azam Khan, SP MLA from Rampur in UP and former cabinet minister. At the same time, after the SP MLA got interim bail, his wife Tanzeem Fatima gave a big statement and termed it as a victory of truth. “The court has given us relief, I want to thank all those people who supported us in difficult times,” said Tazeen Fatima and added that after his release from Sitapur Jail, Azam Khan will go straight to Rampur.
However, on being asked about SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Tanzim Fatima said she does not want to say anything about him. Apart from this, supporters of Azam Khan in Rampur have celebrated by distributing sweets on getting interim bail from the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam also tweeted and hailed the Apex Court after Azam was granted interim bail.
The Apex Court, exercising its power under Article 142 of the Constitution, has granted interim bail to Azam Khan on Thursday. With this, the veteran leader of the Samajwadi Party has got interim bail in the 89th case. Earlier, he has got bail in 88 cases. However, the Supreme Court said that at present he has been granted interim bail. Whereas the SP leader will have to file an application in the lower court for regular bail in two weeks.
Also said that till the lower court takes no decision on bail, Azam Khan will be released on interim bail. A bench of Supreme Court Justice L Nageswara Rao, Justice BR Gavai, Justice S Gopanna has ruled on bail on this.
Azam Khan is lodged in Sitapur Jail for 26 months
The Samajwadi Party MLA from Rampur is lodged in Sitapur jail for the last 26 months in more than 80 cases. Not only this, when he took bail in one case, another case would have been filed against him. For this reason, the family of the SP MLA had moved the Supreme Court.
On the other hand Shivpal Singh Yadav, uncle of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, tweeted about Azam and wrote, “Satyamev Jayate Nanritam Satyen Pantha Vitato Devyaan: The hour of justice that was waiting for a long time has come to an end today. Azam Khan Sahab has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court. They have got justice from the horrific oppression of the system. India’s judicial system is a ray of hope. greeting.”
